Where Tide Clocks Work Well

• East Coast: The entire U.S. East Coast generally has regular two-high/two-low tides
• West Coast (with calibration): The U.S. West Coast has mixed semidiurnal tides, requiring periodic calibration (e.g., weekly) but still works effectively.
• Hawaii: Also requires calibration for its mixed tides

Where Tide Clocks Do Not Work Well

• Gulf of Mexico: Experiences diurnal (one high/low tide per day) or very weak tides, making mechanical clocks inaccurate
